Ich habe mit der Band Mötley Crüe tatsächlich so rein gar nichts am Hut... Klar, ein paar Lieder sind mir wohl bekannt, aber der musikalische Stil (Hair Metal) entspricht echt nicht meinem Geschmack. Und trotzdem ist diese Bandbiographie unfassbar spannend, da die Mitglieder (und zu Wort kommenden Manager) einen wirklich offenen Blick in den Rockzirkus gewähren. Dabei sind die 80er Jahre am interessantesten, in denen Mötley Crüe eine richtige Mega-Band waren - und sich verhalten haben wie absolut größenwahnsinnige Psychopathen.Ganz ehrlich, sympathisch sind einem die Jungs nicht (zumindest mir), aber die Geschichten, die sie zu erzählen haben, sind wahrlich monumental, lustig und teilweise echt erschreckend... Klar, daß da dann auch jede Menge Girls, Drugs and Rock'n'Roll (logisch) dazugehören. Interessant ist der Effekt, daß es am Anfang ziemlich aufregend ist über diese Erlebnisse zu lesen, man aber im Laufe des Buches ebenso wie die Bandmitglieder gegenüber den Themen regelrecht abstumpft.Zum Ende der Biographie flaut die Spannung etwas ab, da sich die vier Jungs ausiebig in Eigenreflektionen ergehen, die natürlich für ihr eigenes Wohl sehr begrüßenswert sind, aber einfach nicht mehr so sonderlich interessant sind. Tja, das ist wahrscheinlich das Schicksal eines jeden alternden Rockstars...Wer also auch nur einen Funken Interesse für das Rock-Biz und teilweise total absurde Musikergeschichten aufbringen kann, sollte definitiv zugreifen - und auf jeden Fall die englische Version bevorzugen! Ich bezweifel, daß der schnodderige und mit Schimpfwörtern gespickte Schreibstil mit der gleichen Wirkung eingedeutscht werden kann.
Dieses Buch macht süchtig. Es ist wahnsinnig gut geschrieben. Es ist schonungslos. Es ist bewegend. Allerdings darf man vermutlich nicht alles ganz ernst nehmen. Ein bisschen scheint hier das Image der Band mitgeschrieben und das ein oder andere etwas übertrieben zu haben. Aber egal. Mötley Crüe war ohne Frage die Band, die das Cliché von Rockstars erfüllt.Ich fand nur etwas schade, dass nur wenig auf die künstlerische Seite und die Songs an sich eingegangen wird. Und, natürlich, dass das Buch bereits 2001 erschienen ist und somit leider ein ganzer Teil der Bandgeschichte bis zur Auflösung mit Anwalt und Vertrag fehlt. Aber wer weiß, vielleicht gibt es ja irgendwann noch einen zweiten Band.
Die Bandmitglieder und andere Weggefährten berichten abwechselnd über die Geschichte der Band und ihre eigenen Stories.Liest sich sehr unterhaltsam und kurzweilig.Lediglich Tommy lässt sich für meine Geschmack etwas zu intensiv über seine Ehe mit Pamela Anderson aus.Ein Muss für alle Fans von Mötley Crüe.
Dieses Buch sollte jeder lesen, der sich für Rockmusik interessiert - egal ob Fan der Band oder nicht. Ich bin es nicht, im Gegenteil, ich habe die Band zu ihren Hochzeiten "gehasst", weil sie mir zu tuntig waren. Jetzt weiß ichs besser. Was mich so begeistert ist die Aufmachung. Z. B., dass Vorfälle immer wieder von verschiedenen Personen beschrieben werden, oder dass jedes Kapitel von einem fiktiven Erzähler wie in einem Heldenepos eingeleitet wird (..now see our four heroes..), oder die grafische Gestaltung oder, oder... Und interessante Stories werden hier wahrlich genug erzählt. Keine Ahnung, wie man so ein Leben überlebt bzw. es schafft, nicht zumindest für Jahre im Gefängnis zu landen. Schlicht und ergreifend das beste Buch dieser Art, das ich jemals gelesen habe.
Ich mach es kurz , das Buch ist der absolute Hammer auch fürLeute interressant , die nicht die Band so gut kennen.Es beschreibt das Leben der Band Mötley Crüe mit all seinenHöhen und Tiefen. Auch die Kindheit von manchen Bandmitgliedernwird beleuchtet und so kann man deren Werdegang gut nachvollziehen.Es ist schon wirklich Krass was Nikki,Vince,Mick und Tommy so alles durchgemacht haben.Von den absoluten NoNames zu den grössten Superstars der Szene.Also nochmal dieses Buch kann ich wirklich jedem weiter empfehlen.Schade das es bis jetzt nur in englischer Spracheerschienen ist.
Wer sich für Mötley Crüe oder die Zeit dafür interessiert, sollte sich dieses buch holen. Es ist Witzig, Interessant und Verrückt zugleich.
